What type of ghillie suit would be best for hunting ? I will say that I'd be hunting predators and probably be on my knees or lying prone on the ground most of the time. It looks like the ghillie poncho provide the ultimate cover but I only wonder if it would be awkward to walk in or not. The pants and upper piece suits look like they don't blend you to the environment as well as the one piece ponchos, what do you think or have you used one ever ?

I do agree if you are in the right environment and lower body is covered or has good camo. There are reinforced bottoms made for crawling or humping or stalking.

You can buy a two piece camo leaf suit under which you can wear anything.I've seen it at cabelas, basspro and academy stores.I bought one at bass pro for about $ 50 whole set.and the best part is the suit is like fine netted so gonna act as a bug free suit too.My field tested report would be:It's got a lot of extra strech of fabric around the suit and camo printed so you will perfectly blend with the surrounding and slight wind gonna move that fabric like leaves. With a help of good tripod with rear support http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0024205226746a&type=product&cmCat=SEAR CH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=stoney+point+tripod&Ntk=Products& sort=all&_D%3AhasJS=+&N=0&_D%3Asort=+&Nty=1&hasJS= true&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fse arch-box.jsp.form1&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1 it would be a complete set for hunting any animal.

I've heard they are flammable also, they can be a b+++h to wear if you want to walk around a lot..get hot thus they may create more human scent, they may restrict your peripheral vision..I have heard you have to change the various pieces of vegetation you attach when you get into a different type of vegetation in different areas.. like valley scrub brush and grassy plain to dense woodland or mountain aspen or pines ect. Do yourself a favor..just get a good set of camo's and get into an area where your outline will be broken up.

Hey just be careful I remember reading somewhere that a lot of ghillie suits are incredibly flammable. I bring it up because I remember a news story about a guy that suffered terrible burns and its not really something you think about.

Let me be honest with you for a minute. Your better off just getting camo than using a ghillie suit. I have used them, and they pretty much are just horrible for hunting. Yeah, you can blend into the environment, but shooting with one on is really tough. Prone position would be your best bet. I don't hunt predators anymore, but I can tell you this, a good camo suit is better for mobility when it comes to hunting, plus a ghillie is simply downright noisy. Most people won't know that, but they are. I have tried a few different ones, many of them advertising "mobile and silent" but when it comes to actually doing the job, it just doesn't compare to a good camo outfit.
